Mar. 15th, 2014 05:31 pmSince Kevin went home with his mom, he's been grateful to have her around again, to know that she's alive and that she's okay, but no matter how much he loves his mom... He can use some time away from her. That's not all that easy to manage, ghost-life being what it is, which is mainly a non-life, more of a noncorporeal existence. But he can't do much about that until the gates to Heaven are opened up again, and who the hell knows when the Winchesters are going to worry about that. They rarely find time to worry about anything that doesn't immediately pertain to themselves.
Kevin rigs up a way to travel around. It's not easy and involves something not unlike the Doc in Star Trek: Voyager getting a mobile emitter. His mom's not happy, but he tries to explain it to her like he has to go ghost-investigating in the ghost-world if he wants to get any answers or hints as to how they might be able to open up Heaven again. Sure, he likes not having to be totally dead, but Dean and Sam are right. Eventually, ghosts can go vengeful, and Kevin doesn't want to go vengeful.
His ghost exploring isn't all that interesting. Mostly, it's depressing, but he does run into a lot of people; it's getting crowded out in the spirit realm. So far he's heard about a recent opening of a portal to the other side, and he's not sure if it's the same thing as Heaven, but an open portal is an open portal and it might be useful.
He ghost-hops where he heard the girl is who was involved in all that, and he's seen a lot of things in his recent but brief travels, but this is new.
"Is that a... blanket fort?"
